Who Are We?
The Coalition for Healthy Cities and Communities in the United States is a partnership of organizations working together to focus attention and resources to improve the health and quality of life in communities.
The Coalition works to:
How This Coalition Defines "Health" and "Community":
"Health" is more than the absence of disease, it includes physical, mental, and social and environmental dimensions and strongly overlaps the concept of well-being.
"Community" is defined to include all persons and organizations within a reasonable circumscribed geographic area in which there is a sense of interdependence and belonging.
Coalition Composition:
The Coalition represents more than 25 organizations (see attached for current membership listing). It's a dynamic and evolving Coalition. Your participation is welcome.
The Hospital Research and Educational Trust has volunteered to coordinate inquiries about the Coalition. For further information, contact Cynthia Washington at HRET, 312/422-2635.
