Matthies Foundation Awards Grant to Healthy Valley

The Katharine Matthies Foundation has announced an award of $20,000 to the Healthy Valley Project. The grant was actually made to the Valley Council of Health & Human Service Organizations, the parent group for Healthy Valley. Valley United Way will serve as the fiduciary agent for the grant.

The grant will allow Healthy Valley to continue to work on the initiatives currently underway as well as to continue to develop a community report card for the Valley. Project Co-chairs Nancy Valentine and Karen Spargo acknowledged the important role that Matthies Foundation support has played since the project first began. The noted that, "The Matthies Foundation was an early supporter of this project providing early funding in the development stage. This grant will allow us to build on the strong foundation that their dollars helped to build."
